With the next Regened Prog coming along with Prog 2196, we’re doing a little bit of wrapping things up, with the finale of this first series of Full Tilt Boogie, the penultimate episode of The Order, more Dredd in ‘End Of Days’, more far-flung wonders in The Out, and a short return to the world of Sinister Dexter.

They’ve beaten two of the Horsemen, leaving just War and, presumably, Death to go. This time… it’s War.
And War happens to be in Sov territory. Which is why Dredd’s busy getting a damn good hiding right now. Well, it’s not like they’re going to be welcoming him with open arms, is it?
And then there’s the little matter of the Sov Psi telling a tale of a prophecy of the Four Horsemen and a lone rider carrying a demon’s head (hmmm… shouldn’t that be an angel’s head?)
Damn, that Henry Flint is a bit of an art star isn’t he?
So, it’s Dredd and the Sovs versus War. Or perhaps it’s something else entirely. And still no sign of War with just the four episodes left. Are we going to be getting one of those epics that just run straight into another epic, are we going to end End of Days with three of the Horsemen out the way with the last one causing even more trouble to come?
FULL TILT BOOGIE – PART 10 – FINAL PART – Alex De Campi, Eduardo Ocana, letters by Simon Bowland
Well, that’s the end of the first series of Full Tilt Boogie. And frankly, it’s been a blast – full of fun, full of adventuring, a full-on Saturday morning cartoon of a strip with some incredible looking artwork from Ocana along the way.
As for the ending, it’s one that sets up the next chapter of the adventures of the good ship Full Tilt Boogie, wrapping things up neatly, giving us the Cat’s finest hour, and leaving plenty of room for the next series. Bring it on!
SINISTER DEXTER – BULLETOPIA CHAPTER 2 – STAY BRAVE PART 1 – Dan Abnett and Steve Yeowell, colours by John Charles, letters by Jim Campbell
It’s looking as though the Bulletopia storyline is going to be one of those that winds it through various shorter tales, building up and up in that very Abnett-y way.
There’s a rogue AI running loose in Downlode and everyone’s favourite gun-sharks, Finnigan Sinister and Ramone Dexter, have teamed up with Carrie Hosanna who has no idea she used to be married to old Finnegan.
There’s a big old cyber-war coming Downlode’s way, but first there’s time for a little heart to heart.
THE ORDER – LAND OF THE FREE – PART 11 – Kek-W, John Burns, letters by Simon Bowland
More stuff happens. We have automatons, railway engineers, Armoured Gideon with Clara Weitz trapped in its head, and other stuff going on.
What that other stuff actually is, well I rather lost the plot of The Order a fair while back. Just one of those strips that leaves me nearly cold.
I say nearly cold of course because of the art of John Burns, which is always quite beautiful in all its wonderful painterly way. But all that means is that The Order is a regular 5-page feast for the eyes rather than a comic I enjoy reading.
THE OUT – PART 8 – Dan Abnett, Mark Harrison, letters by Annie Parkhouse
Cyd’s made her way to the Zoto Homeworld now after her first contact with the Tankinar.
What’s happened after that is rather bizarre to say the least. As Cyd says…
Yes, space is damn weird out here. And The Out is the perfect document of it all. Abnett seems determined to throw us all off the scent, mixing everything up in so many wonderful ways. Hands up all those who thought the Tanikar were going to end up being humanity. Wrong. Hands up all those who thought the Tanikar war was going to be the thing that defined the series. Wrong again.
Frankly, I have absolutely no idea where Abnett and Harrison are taking me with this one and I am loving that.
