‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Renewed For A Fourth Season

Star Trek: Discovery‘s adventure in the 32nd Century may have just begun, but its future is secured.

TVLine reports the series has been renewed for a fourth season on CBS All Access. Or, perhaps more precisely, on Paramount+ — the name the service will begin using early next year. The series tells the tale of Micheal Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), a commander in Starfleet serving aboard the USS Discovery. The ship is outfitted with an experimental drive system and a crew of misfits. After detecting their presence in the 23rd Century could lead to the death of all lifeforms, Burnham and the crew make the extraordinary choice to travel 930 years forward in time. They save the universe, but she soon discovers the galaxy she loved has been seriously wounded in the centuries since her departure.

The program’s third season began just last night on the service, but an early renewal suggests it story will end on another big cliffhanger. It also indicates CBS All Access’s plan of year-round Star Trek will carry over into its Paramount+ incarnation.

Star Trek: Discovery streams Thursdays on CBS All Access.
