In a video announcement, president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy detailed what was coming up next for the Star Wars studio.

After a sizzle reel featuring highlights from the second season of The Mandalorian, Kennedy announced that Mando showrunners Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are developing two spin-offs of The Mandalorian: Rangers of the New Republic, set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, and Ahsoka, which will feature Rosario Dawson continuing in the role of Ahsoka Tano.

Kennedy also revealed that the previously announced Obi-Wan Kenobi series will not only feature Ewan Macgregor returning in the role of the eponymous Jedi, it will also include Hayden Christensen once again playing the character of Anakin Skywalker – or rather, Darth Vader, given the series place in the story’s chronology.

Also Kennedy also confined that the previously announced Star Wars: Andor, a live action series featuring Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), is still on the way.

Meanwhile, Star Wars Visions will feature ten short films set in the Star Wars universe from ten different Japanese animation studios.

Kennedy also announced Star Wars: Lando, an event series currently being developed by Justin Simien (which will hopefully feature the return of Donald Glover to the titular role).

And Leslye Headland will bring mystery-thriller The Acolyte to Disney+. Set during final days of the High Republic era, the series will feature the rising Dark Side.

Lucasfilm Animation has been hard at work, not just on the previously announced Bad Batch series, but also working with Industrial Light & Magic to develop a project called A Droid Story for Disney+, featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO (and hopefully, by extension, Anthony Daniels) as well as a new droid.

Meanwhile, as far non-Star Wars Lucasfilm projects go, the Willow series is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in 2022, with Warwick Davis reprising the eponymous role and Jon M. Chu to direct the pilot.

Kennedy also confirmed that preproduction on the final Indiana Jones movie with Harrison Ford, to be directed by James Mangold, scheduled to arrive in July 2022.

Kennedy also confirmed the ongoing development of an adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, the first book in the series of novels by Tomi Adeyemi.

While making a passing reference to the changing state of cinema, Kennedy specifically confirmed that there were two Star Wars movies in production: Taika Waititi’s previously announced movie, and the newly announced Rogue Squadron, which is to be directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman 1984).
