Help Support The Berni Wrightson Jigsaw On Kickstarter

Put The Horror Together

We found a fun and slightly different kickstarter this week. Tim Doyle is raising funds for a Berni Wrightson jigsaw and here’s a few details…

Story

Nakatomi is proud to team up with the Bernie Wrightson Estate to present the Bernie Wrightson Puzzle Series!

 Wrightson- PUZZLE SERIES #1

Bernie Wrightson was an American artist known for his horror illustration, comic book work, and concept design. Bernie co-created the DC Comics Character Swamp Thing, as well as designing monsters for films such as The MistGalaxy Quest, and the original Ghostbusters

His most well regarded work is his 1983 illustrated version of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, originally published by Marvel Comics. The centerpiece of that book is arguably one of the finest fantasy / horror illustrations of all time:  “…I Shall Be With You on Your Wedding Night”, a work of art so intensely detailed, it is hard to believe it was created by human hand.

This Kickstater project is to fund a series of high-quality 1000 piece puzzles, each measuring an oversized 20 x 30″. This series begins with both “Wedding Night” as well as  Bernie’s classic painting, “You’re New Here, Aren’t You?”

These puzzles are printed on extra-thick and sturdy cardboard, with a high-gloss finish. The pieces give a rewarding ‘snap‘ when put together, and the thick paper stock means these pieces will not easily bend! (Note- Cannot guarantee this if you possess un-dead monster strength).

Each puzzle set comes in a deluxe custom box that features a magnetic closure, with a blood-red interior.

THE BUDGET

The Budget is to cover the cost of production of the minimum amount of puzzle sets we’d need to order, along with any additional rewards, and the shipping costs to ship them out to you!

THE SCHEDULE

The puzzles are already formatted for printing, the boxes are designed, and all vendors have been contracted, and lined up to get this going! We’ve already gone through the sample process with our overseas manufacturer and have prototypes in hand! (In fact, they were used for the photos!)

Once this project has funded, we are looking to have the puzzles in hand by May 2021 and out the door shortly after that! T-shirts are being produced in-house at Nakatomi, and the pin rewards are with our regular pin producer.

STRETCH GOALS

STRETCH GOALS- once the project funds, we’ll start rolling out our two Stretch Goals- Stay tuned!

Risks and challenges

The risks and challenges for this project are quite low. Nakatomi Print Labs is handling all fulfillment and production of some of the rewards in-house. We have a full-time staff dedicated to the safe packing and shipping of all rewards. Nakatomi may be small, but we have been in business for over 12 years, and have safely shipped tens of thousands of orders to customers all over the globe! Best of all, we’ve already managed fulfillment for several successful Kickstarters (and a few of our own!) All design work is done, the printing and box manufacturing arrangements have been made. Shipping and Fulfillment has been accounted for. All we need to know is how many to print, and who to ship them to! Barring any unforeseen hiccups, we should be well within any of our reward delivery dates. We believe Kickstarter is the ideal place to take this project to make sure that everyone who wants to get on board CAN do so.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Long-lasting design

Extra-thick, quality cardboard stock means this Puzzle will last for years and years to come.

Reusability and recyclability

Because these are sturdy box sets, not much packaging is required in shipping, and the boxes themselves are the container for the puzzle when not in use. And if needed, even high-quality cardboard can be recycled!
