Help Support The Umbria Film Festival

Celebrate A Film Festival Milestone

Over on Terry Gilliam’s facebook page, he has just highlighted the fact that the Umbria Film Festival is running a kickstarter campaign and here’s a few details as the festival celebrates its 25th anniversary…

Established in 1996, Umbria Film Festival is an independent cinematographic event that livens up the medieval town of Montone every summer.

Film premieres, shorts, exhibitions, music performances, masterclasses with established cinema artists and workshops are gratuitously organized with the aim of spreading the love for cinema in all its forms, especially among the younger generations.

Both acclaimed by the Italian public and the international one, throughout the years Umbria Film Festival and its president Terry Gilliam have welcomed to Montone artists like Colin Firth, Lone Scherfig, Ken Loach, Mike Figgis, Hanif Kureishi, Mike Leigh, Michael Winterbottom, Edgar Reitz, Stephen Frears, Bille August, Paola Cortellesi, Ferzan Ozpetek, Vittorio Storaro, Riccardo Milani, Colin Firth, Peter Mullan, Peter Lord, Paul Laverty, Ralph Fiennes, Bill Nighy, Michel Ocelot.

Celebrate with us the 25th anniversary of the Festival!

2020 has been an incredibly challenging year. Nevertheless, thanks to your support and our determination, the 24th edition of Umbria Film Festival went live and was a great success!

This Summer from 7 to 11 July, UFF turns 25 and we would like to celebrate by offering you an even more special edition! As to do so, we need your help!

We are therefore launching a crowdfunding campaign that will help us organise an edition like you have never seen it before!

The campaign is addressed to you, who share our same desire to get back together and discover great Italian and international cinema.

What will you be supporting?

Your donation will help us get back together and live the magic of cinema and art in the medieval town of Montone.

  • You will support the events of the Festival: premieres, shorts, music performances, workshops and much more!
  • You will also help us develop (In The) Limelighta series of contemporary art installations by three up-and-coming young artists. The town of Montone will host their original artworks inviting to reflect on the future and the necessity to build a new bond with what surrounds us. Strolling around Montone during the Festival, you’ll be charmed by how the architecture of the town and the artworks that populate it resonate with one another.

We strongly believe that cultural events such as Umbria Film Festival are part of a cultural heritage that needs to be safeguarded at all costs. Through cinema we share knowledge and beauty, sensations and emotions, enriching the society we live in.

Risks and challenges

Unpredictability is the watchword of these months, but we at Umbria Film Festival have decided to embrace the challenges of the present and live them day by day. We are therefore determined to get physically together for the next edition of the Festival – in compliance with the safety rules, of course! Would this be unfeasible, the funds will be employed to digitally organize the Festival.
