Albatross Funnybooks Reveals Plans For True Crime OGN Based On Ed Gein

Harold Schechter teams with graphic novelist Eric Powell to bring you the tale of one of the most notoriously deranged murderers in American history, Ed Gein. Powell is probably best known as the creator of the long-running occult noir series The Goon. Schechter is a true crime author who penned nonfiction books Deviant and The Serial Killer Files.

Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? is an in-depth exploration of the Gein family and what led to the creation of the necrophile who haunted the dreams of 1950s America and inspired such films as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs.

Schechter says

Obviously Ed Gein’s story has been fictionalized many times in the movies. In no visual medium, however, have the bizarre inner workings of his mind been explored and portrayed. The graphic novel is the perfect medium to conduct such an exploration.

Painstakingly researched and illustrated, Schechter and Powell’s true-crime graphic novel takes the Gein story out of the realms of exploitation and gives the reader a fact-based dramatization of these tragic, psychotic and heartbreaking events. Because, in this case, the truth needs no embellishment to be horrifying.

Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? is set to hit the spinner racks on July 14, 2021 and release in bookstores on July 27, 2021. Powell and Schechter have also launched an upcoming Kickstarter campaign featuring exclusive SC and HC versions of the book and cool rewards.
