Long ago, The Flash teased a story about Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) breaking bad and using the full extent of her powers. And as this preview for next week’s episode reveals, the time for that story is soon. Both Cecile and Barry (Grant Gustin) find themselves trapped in Cecile’s mind while whatever force possessing her causes chaos in Central City. Will they be able to escape before it become too difficult to regain control of their bodies?
Meanwhile, we appreciate the silly and emotional exit for Cisco (Carlos Valdes) this week. Sadly, his departure underscores how long-in-the-tooth The Flash is getting — the crime of the week slowed the pace down considerably. That said, we hope Chester (Brandon McKnight) can liven things up as he takes over the Cisco role in Team Flash. We also hope Iris (Candice Patton) finds a new photographer quickly so Team Citizen can get a storyline of its own next year.
As it happens, series showrunner Eric Wallace mentioned last week Cisco’s goodbye and Cecile’s “spotlight” episode are part of an interlude before the next major storyline begins. And based on what we’ve seen, that storyline will revolve around the arrival of Barry and Iris’s children. We’re definitely looking forward to that even if the show has left us a little cold of late.
The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
