When Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) attempts to make up for lost time by bringing his family to New York for the holidays, things get upended when someone else starts causing trouble as Ronin. Soon, he discovers the mystery person co-opting that persona is Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), the self-proclaimed world’s greatest archer. But her activities as Ronin catch up with both of them, forcing Clint to send his family home and take up the bow once more. Or maybe he’s leaving that aspect of the job up to Kate. Either way, chaos ensues.
Is it weird to think this show resembles a Netflix series? Sure, it seems to be zanier than, say, Daredevil or Jessica Jones, but beyond the Steve Rogers musical spied early on, Manhattan sure feels familiar. Then again, that could just be the consequence of a Marvel Studios series taking place in New York. It’s just going to have that vibe.
Meanwhile, we can’t wait to see more of Steinfeld as Kate (our favorite Hawkeye) and the Tracksuit Mafia come to life. Oh, also if the Black Widow stinger is to be believed, we’ll also see Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) again as the Contessa (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) has her own designs on Clint.
