Kickstart This: The Next Set Of Comicscene’s ‘History Of Comics’ Is Here

The third set of the Comicscene History Of Comics is live right now on Kickstarter – a partwork covering the world of comics from 1930-2030, with books 9-12 covering 1966, 1972, 1982, and 1989…

Launched in 2020 the Comicscene History of Comics is a planned 100-issue partwork series that will cover comics from 1930 to 2030, with each new volume covering a different year, with the intent of making a definitive collection of comics history.

We’ve already seen the publication of volumes for 1950, 1971, 1976, 1977, 1984, 1986, 1991, and 2020, and now we have the Kickstarter for the next four volumes!

As with previous History of Comics Kickstarters, there’s plenty of chance to catch up with books 1-8, plus plenty of extras, including a 4-book slipcase, access to extra digital content, membership to the History of Comics Society, and the chance to add many more Comicscene publications as ‘add-ons’, including the new Batman Special…

As for what you’ll find inside… well, there’s a lot, from across four years covered, from all over the comics world, including; Smash, Steve Ditko, Saga of the Swamp Thing, Tomb of Dracula, Steve Gerber, Trina Robbins, Al Capp, ‘The Apocalypse War,’ When The Wind Blows, Warrior, V For Vendetta, Marvelman/Miracleman, Akira, Love and Rockets, Rocketeer, Camelot 3000, Sandman, Doom Patrol, Arkham Asylum, St Swithins Day, Trident, Seven Deadly Sins, Grendel, From Hell, Slaine the Horned God and a hell of a lot more!

So go – pledge to the Kickstarter, support more comics journalism (and yes, I’m in there writing about some great comics.)

The latest Comicscene History of Comics Kickstarter runs until 12 October.

And for the early pledgers –
