Best Star Wars Videogame Of All Time To Get A Modern Remake

Back To The Old Republic

The Force is with you if you’re a fan of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR), the multi-award-winning video game developed by BioWare that is considered one of the best ever made. According to StarWars.com, the 2003 game is being remade for the PlayStation 5 and the PC writes Tripwire contributing writer Carole Pinchevsky…

For those who haven’t experienced the delights of KOTOR, the game takes place 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire. You play an amnesiac (either male or female) who learns the ways of the Force. Sounds simple enough, but along the way you make choices that lead you toward the Light or Dark Side, as well as to your own past. KOTOR is an immersive and deeply engaging experience.
Meanwhile, the Jedi have been winnowed down almost to extinction, the Republic itself is in decline, and the Sith have access to an automated shipbuilding power known as the Star Forge…and they’re not afraid to use it.
KOTOR spawned a sequel in 2004, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, (developed by Obsidian Entertainment) as well as a comic book series and a massively multiplayer role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic (developed by BioWare).
Knights of the Old Republic: Remake is being developed by Aspyr, a surprising change considering its original developer BioWare is alive and thriving. However, BioWare may have its hands full with its upcoming slate of games, which include Dragon Age 4, Mass Effect 4, and Anthem 2.0, in addition to supporting Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Bioware has even tweeted its support for the new version of KOTOR.

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p lang=”en” dir=”ltr”>We’re proud of the work we did on the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and genuinely cannot wait to play Aspyr’s Remake! As we continue our work on Star Wars: The Old Republic, we will watch with great interest. May the Force Be With You.</p>&mdash; BioWare (@bioware) <a data-qtip=”https://twitter.com/bioware/status/1436504297001209857?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw” data-qtip=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” href=”https://twitter.com/bioware/status/1436504297001209857?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw“>September 11, 2021</a></blockquote> http://”a

It’s unsurprising that Aspyr has been tapped for KOTOR: Remake. The Austin-based developers specialize in game porting, a transfer of the game’s program from one environment to another (for example, moving a PlayStation 3 console game to a handheld Android game). Prior to this, Aspyr ported KOTOR to the iOS, where gamers could engage with the Old Republic on our iPads.

With the news that KOTOR would be getting a remake, it was as if a million voices cried out in glee…

…and were suddenly silenced by the teaser (see below). This teaser provides almost no information, not even a release date. It’s enough to make someone turn to the Dark Side.

Those who crave immediate KOTOR gratification can turn to the original videogame, but be warned: The graphics needed a trip to the trash compactor even in 2003.
