Although the concept behind the Injustice video game and comics is clear — a reality in which Superman becomes a total deposit enforcing his will via his powers — the graphic element is something which can still be surprising. This is doubly true in the recently released “Red Band” trailer for the upcoming DC Universe Animated adaptation of Injustice, which sees Superman (Justin Hartley) exacting bloody revenge on the Joker (Kevin Pollak). Even though you know what is about to happen, it’s still a lot. Superman’s subsequent actions in the trailer are also surprising. Meanwhile, the rest of the Justice League tries to decide what they can do to stop or redeem the Man of Steel. The cast also includes Anson Mount as Batman and a stunning array of voice talent, including Janet Varney as Wonder Woman, Brandon Micheal Hall as Cyborg, Anika Noni Rose as Catwoman, Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn, Fred Tatasciore as Captain Atom, and many, many more.
The 4K, Blu-ray, and digital releases all come with a documentary featurette, Adventures in Storytelling – Injustice: Crisis and Conflict, flashback content from The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen, and the two-part Justice League tale, “Injustice For All,” which also posited a world in which Superman broke bad.
Directed by Matt Peters from a screenplay by Ernie Altbacker, Injustice arrives on disc and digital formats October 19th.
