NYCC ’21: Rocketship blasts off with Let’s Play, Awkward Yeti and more

Yep it’s happening, New York Comic Con. And people and publishers are coming, among them Rocketship Entertainment. They’ll be set up for the whole show with signings by wildly popular creators Leeanne M. Krecic (Let’s Play – currently in development for a live action TV show) and Nick Seluk (Lars the Awkward Yeti), as well as a full slate of panels and signings.

We’ve reported on Rocketship before – they have an innovative webcomics to Kickstarter publishing model but this will be their first big public appearance.

(Disclosure: I was supposed to moderate the panel on crowdfunding, but was scheduled for another panel at the exact same time and had to bow out.)

Details below:

The Rocketship Way Station (booth #1629) will be on the main show floor where fans can pick up a variety of graphic novels, games, and merchandise, including the exclusive Let’s Play Volume 1 NYCC Edition featuring Charles and Sam and from the world of The Awkward Yeti, the Lars, Heart, and Brain NYCC enamel pin. For fans who can not attend the convention both items will be available in limited supply on the Rocketship online store beginning on Thursday, October 7th. Creators Leeanne M. Krecic and Nick Seluk will be at the Rocketship booth throughout the weekend for signings, along with scheduled signings with creators M. Victoria Robado (#Blessed) and Thom Zahler (Cupid’s Arrows).

Fans can also be among the first to playtest the upcoming cooperative tabletop game, Brothers Bond, based on the Eisner-nominated comic by Ryan Benjamin and Kevin Grevioux which is coming to Kickstarter later this year

Brothers Bond is a cooperative game where players assume the roles of four roguish heroes. Yoshi, an exiled prince, Sato and Tanaka, his two blind samurai protectors, and Elki, a feisty thief, set on a dangerous journey to reclaim a kingdom from demonic forces. These heroes attempt to survive within the magical forest they have taken solace in, embarking on quests to better themselves and uncover the secrets of the realm that hunts while encroaching ever closer to their fate—returning to the land that outcast them to right the wrongs of the past.

During the convention anyone who backs or has backed Rocketship’s current Kickstarter, the graphic novel Metaphorical HER by James Maddox, David Stoll, Justin Birch, Ray Nadine, and Stelladia and shows proof of backing at the Rocketship booth will receive an exclusive NYCC Metaphorical HER fridge magnet* (*while supplies last).

Finally, fans will be the first to hear about Rocketship’s fall and winter titles including first looks at Outrage, by Fabian Nicieza (Deadpool, Suburban Dicks) and Reilly Brown (Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point, Cable & Deadpool), the hit webcomic Faded Away by Miya Wang, and Leeanne M. Krecic’s Let’s Play Volume 3.

In addition, Rocketship will be hosting its first NYCC Panel, Taking off with Rocketship Entertainment!, and Rocketship CEO & publisher Tom Akel will appear on the Kickstarter panel, Kickstarting Comics in 2021 and Beyond.
