Netflix released a trailer for the Locke & Key‘s second season which really boils down to one word: escalation.
The whimsical first season gives way to a program more inclined toward horror as Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira and Felix Mallard) moves forward with their plans, Nina (Darby Stanchfield) faces her own interior terrors, and the Locke children get a little too confident with their use of the keys. Sure, Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) is still the most sensible of the bunch, but we imagine even his comfort with the keys will allow Dodge a chance to get close to the prize.
While some felt the first season was a little too far afield from the comics of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, we thought starting with the magical and family aspects of the story was a strong approach. And we look forward to more of the darkness and, indeed, the escalation in story, scope, and seemingly even production value when the series returns October 22nd on Netflix.
