We’ve already had word of the Brian Bolland Apex Edition, the Mick McMahon Apex Edition, the return of John Wagner to doing a longer-form Judge Dredd series – ‘Crucible’, The Best of John Wagner hardback, the 2000 AD Encyclopedia, and the 2000 AD Covers Uncovered project, but we now have a release date and cover for a book every 2000 AD fan will want adorning their bookshelves – The Art of Carlos Ezquerra!
Carlos Ezquerra was one of the founding fathers of everything 2000 AD, and his masterful artwork featured in the Prog and the Megazine from their inception right up until his untimely death in 2018.
His work, whether it was co-creating and guiding Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog (Okay, SD was created for Starlord, but soon became a 2000 AD mainstay,) through the years in some of their most iconic tales, or creating many other series, including Fiends of the Eastern Front, Al’s Baby, The Stainless Steel Rat, Third World War (in Crisis), Cursed Earth Koburn, and so many more, was always a beautiful thing to behold – Ezquerra’s art was unique and immediately recognisable.
The new Art of Carlos Ezquerra hardback collection brings together highlights from half a century of the master artist’s amazing work. As well as Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog, it will feature samples from his early romance comics work and never-before-reprinted work from Battle.
