Disney+ Day: Marvel Studios Confirms ‘Echo,’ ‘Agatha,’ And More

Via a series of rapid fire Tweets Friday, Disney+ and Marvel Studios made a flurry of announcements as part of the Disney+ Day festivities. Chief among them: Echo (Alaqua Cox) and Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) are getting their own series.

Properly named Agatha: House of Darkness and Echo, the programs will transport the WandaVision and Hawkeye characters into their own adventures. Agatha will presumably see the witch claw her way out of the fantasy Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) left her in at the end of WandaVision. Both series have been rumored for sometime, but Marvel has a habit of only confirming things at events like Investors Day, D23 Expo, and today.

Other newly announced series include a trio of animated projects: Marvel Zombies, X-Men ’97, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year. The first is self-explanatory with Spider-Man proving the most interesting as it unexpectedly continues the relationship between Marvel and Sony, who are also developing their own Spider-Man animated television series. X-Men ’97 is a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series, so get ready for fresh Wolverine memes.

The service also confirmed a second season of What If…? and a new launch window for Ms. Marvel: Summer 2022. Tweets also updated title treatments for She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ironheart, I Am Groot, and Secret Invasion. Curiously absent from the tweetstorm: Armor Wars. The title treatment for that series did appear during a special Marvel Studios Disney+ preview made available to subscribers, which included an extended scene from Hawkeye (to which we can only say “Bro …”), new scenes from Ms. Marvel,  first looks at Moon Knight and She-Hulk and a very brief moment from Secret Invasion.

All told, it’s the sort of thing you’d expect from Marvel at one of those big in-person events. Provided you’re a Disney+ subscriber, of course.
