10. Today’s choice is The Strange Death Of Alex Raymond by Dave Sim and Carson Grubaugh, Living The Line.

Dave Sim first traveled the satirical with his brilliant exploration of fantasy and dark funny, Cerebus. He now follows the routes metaphysical with his latest work, The Strange Death of Alex Raymond. Telling the tale of Raymond’s last minutes on earth, he not only pays homage to the creator of Flash Gordon and other famed cartoonists’ stories but their individual art styles, too.

It is his magnum opus. It is meta and meticulous. For those who got it as a gift this past Yule like me, it is a Christmas Miracle. And although, it’s near perfect, let’s see Sim do it again. Pretty please.
