Brutus Goes On The Offensive In A Preview Of The ‘Naomi’ Season Finale

Now that Brutus and his team have sized up Naomi (Kaci Walfall) as a person, it’s time to go on the offensive. And as this preview for the two-part Naomi season finale reveals, her choices at prom will have an impact going forward. But will it also lead to her worst nightmare or will Zambado (Cranston Johnson) find another unlikely fix?

As for this week’s episode, it is interesting to note the way it paralleled this week’s Superman & Lois by discussing the cost of keeping a secret superhero identity. As glimpsed in the later part of the episode, Nathan (Daniel Puig) could’ve been an in-the-know member of the gang since Episode 6 or 7 and proved quite valuable. Also, the rough edges of his relationship with Naomi could’ve received a little more time to bake. That said, having him decide that it is too dangerous to be involved with her is nice inversion of what superhero love interests usually do when the truth is revealed to them. It probably helps that they are high-schoolers with less developed senses of commitment. Although, his pledge to have her back continues to make him a more distinguished member of the CW season one love interest club.

In the overarching plot, meanwhile, it’s definitely time for Brutus to appear. While we assume he’ll still be the big bad going into Season 2 (if there is one), he and Naomi need to have a direct interaction to set up the ongoing conflict between them. But we also need to send him off for a while as his presence pushes the show further from the high school element which proved to be so strong in the earlier episodes. If the show continues, Naomi still needs to deal with senior year and it will be tough to do that if Brutus pops in as easily as Zumbado.

Naomi airs Tuesdays on The CW.
