Roachmill Volume One Is Now Live On Kickstarter

Dealing With The Problems No One Else Will

Roachmill was part of the 1980s black and white boom, created by Rich Hedden and Tom McWeeney, and Its Alive is running a brand new kickstarter to republish its original single issues plus also a new collection. Here’s a few details of the campaign…

Need an exterminator to handle those rats? Pesky roaches ruining your sleep? Maybe Grandma’s getting on your nerves? Call Roachmill Pest Control and we’ll get the job done! The year is 2998 and the pest control industry has changed.

Roachmill is part Dirty Harry, part 50’s detective novel and part Warner Brothers cartoon set in a future version of New York City overrun by crime and populated with various alien races. Roachmill, along with his assistants, Muzzi and Woim, deal with the problems no one else will handle all while navigating a world of vengeful cops, crooked politicians and rival exterminators. Roachmill is a man just trying to eke out a living as a hired killer.

Originally launched as part of the 80’s “Black and White Boom,” Roachmill quickly  became a stand out, due in large part to the manic energy of it’s then  20 year-old co-creator Rich Hedden. With stories veering wildly between  serious science-fiction, outlandish comedy and social satire, Roachmill was, quite frankly, unlike any comic being published in the mid 80’s. Roachmill is a crazy melting pot of genres, pop culture references, hardboiled influences and youthful enthusiasm.

This campaign, ROACHMILL: Volume One is raising funds to republish both the single issues of,  and a collection for, the original six issues published by Blackthorne  Comics in 1986-87.  The goal is to reproduce these books as close to  their original quality as possible and launch them with a set of  incredible new variant covers by some top industry talent! Future  volumes featuring the classic Dark Horse run along with some  Hedden/McWeeney rarities are contingent on the success of this campaign!

We know there are a LOT of Roachmillfans out there, and we are thrilled to get this material back on the shelf, both for long time fans and new readers to enjoy. But, we need YOUR help to restore every page of this 80’s classic to the level of quality it  deserves, as well as compensating the hard working artists for their efforts on our amazing variant covers.

Please pledge, please share…we can’t do this without your support!  THANK YOU!
