Mad Cave Studios Heads To ECCC With Exclusive Variants

Welcome to the table.

I’m taking a break from my normal TTRPG and Gaming content to take a second and talk about Mad Cave Studios again. I have yet to read all the books they are putting out, but the ones I have had a chance to read are really hitting the spot. That being said, if you are going to conventions and happen to be in the Seattle Washington area between August 18th and the 21st you should head over to Emerald City Comic Con and check out booth #2001 to meet the fine folks from Mad Cave Studios.

Mad Cave is going to be bringing you early peeks at upcoming titles like A Legacy of Violence and Nature’s Labyrinth and plenty of convention-exclusive variants.

A Legacy of Violence
Variant by Joseph Schmalke

(W) Cullen Bunn (A) Andrea Mutti
(L) Rus Wooton

In case you missed my review of A Legacy of Violence you can check that out at this link. It follows Dr. Nick Shaw who suddenly begins to recall past memories locked deep inside his mind and begins to go on a life-altering journey that is fraught with atmospheric terror, mind-bending twists, and as the title suggests… violence.

Nature’s Labyrinth
Variant by Natasha Alterici

(W) Zac Thompson (A) Bayliegh Underwood (C) Warnia Sahadewa (L) Rus Wooton

In this offering from Mad Cave there is a remote island complex in the middle of the ocean full of traps and a landscape that shifts and changes. The island was designed by a mysterious man known only as “Ahab” to test the will of the world’s most notorious criminals. Eight violent felons fight to the death over three days of relentless action in a Battle Royale-style game.

Legacy Variant by Dan Panosian

(W) Mark London (A) Michael Camelo (C) Tekino (L) Miguel Angel Zapata

Follow the reimagined Battlecats as they undertake a perilous quest through different regions in pursuit of The Dire Beast while unearthing dark secrets, and even darker enemies. Valderia and the Battlecats will never be the same. I’ve not read this one yet but the cover and blurb have me super interested. It feels like the Tabaxi kingdom lore I love.

Cover Artist Shane Connery Volk

(W) David Hazan (A) Shane Connery Volk (C) Luca Romano (L) Joamette Gil

In this twisted medieval noir, the Sheriff of Nottingham hunts a serial killer with a penchant for tax collectors. The Sheriff’s investigation makes him the target of England’s most nefarious power-brokers. That’s to say nothing of the Merry Men, terrorists lurking amongst the trees of Sherwood, led by, an enigma known only as “Hood.” Mad Cave Studios presents: Nottingham, but not as you remember it. This one also sounds like a cool romp through the pages of historical fiction so I am onboard.

Find yourself within the pages with the young adult imprint, Maverick! Each story is widely different from the other with one underlying theme in common, which is accepting yourself and being unapologetic for it. When fans buy the first three Maverick titles (Needle & Thread, Nightmare in Savannah, and World Class), Mad Cave Studios will be giving the 4th one (Good Game, Well Played) for free, only at ECCC, booth #2001.

Now get super excited because one of these books is currently my book of the year (It’s The Last Session if you did not know that yet.)

Those looking to snag a copy of The Last Session by Jasmine Walls this year at ECCC will also receive a special dice set to go along with it. So you can Roll for Initiative in style! I will be reviewing these dice very soon!

Lastly, stop by SCC 303 at 12:45pm – 1:45pm PST for the panel Digital Marketing Secrets for Comic Book Creators, featuring Mad Cave Studio’s VP of Business Development, Mark Irwin, alongside other wonderful industry creatives!
