‘Pathfinder: Wake The Dead’ From Dynamite Rolls A Return

Dynamite’s Pathfinder comic is getting back in the game.

The company announced Thursday a new series in their collaboration with tabletop role-playing game company Paizo. Pathfinder: Wake The Dead comes courtesy of writer Fred Van Lente and artist Eman Casallos as they assemble a new party to explore the lands of Golarion.

“I’m thrilled to be back writing Pathfinder comics,” he said in a statement. “And even more excited to be writing a whole new party of Iconics meeting and adventuring together for the very first time.”

According to Dynamite, Wake The Dead sees “the tantalizing prospect of a rendezvous with a Geb defector in possession of priceless secrets from that undead nation” bringing together a “diverse group of adventurers to the Nexian metropolis of Ecanus.” This party includes Quinn the investigator, Sajan the monk, Lem the bard, and Seelah the champion. All may be familiar to long-term Pathfinder fans, but never have readers seen them team up together. Harsk the dwarf from the original series returns, too, but “when they all find themselves cornered by the city’s remorseless Deathsealers, can the Iconics band together for survival and escape a city full of hostile wizards alive?”

Steve Ellis and Biago d’Alessandro will contribute covers printed on premium cardstock and each issue will feature supplementary material to use in a campaign, including “playable character stats for the iconic paladin Seelah, new character options for inhabitants of the magical military city of Ecanus, and more.”

Dynamite and Paizo also announced comics based on Starfinder are also on the way.

Pathfinder: Wake The Dead #1 is set for release in May.
