TRIPWIRE: What was the appeal for you of attending Lake Como Comic art festival as a guest?

LIAM SHARP: So many things! Number one is that it’s a rare art-centric show – no other media celebs. Just artists, and the best of the best at that! The second is the location, which is just stunning. The third is that it is partly run by a very dear friend of mine, Steve Morger.

TW: What are you looking forward to the most about appearing at the show?

LS: It’ll be my third time, and last year every day was just a joy, start to finish – be it the company, the setting, the goodwill and general atmosphere. You get time to be with your fellow creators without it being a circus.

TW: Who are you looking forward to meeting at this year’s show?

LS: I actually haven’t checked the list yet! Last year I was delighted to finally meet Dave McKean. I ALWAYS love having time with Joyce Chin and Art Adams. And the first year was the first time I got to meet Greg Capulo, who was great! You always meet somebody. Looking forward to seeing Kevin Eastman again. It’s been far too long!

TW: What makes it different from other comic events and festivals?

LS: All of the above. No con has a better setting, or a more spectacular reception, or, I think, a better list of artists attending.

TW: In this post-covid time, does this make Lake Como Comic art festival even more important and unique as a comic-art focused event?

LS: Oh, I think we all need to slowly get back to some kind of normality! This is a great way in.
