TV Review: ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Season 2, Episode 15

It’s kind of an unwritten rule in Star Wars that although people are able to make great plans, they never exactly go as intended. Sometimes there are minor hiccups and everything works out in the end. Sometimes not. This episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch focused on the latter scenario. The sad part, though: it wasn’t exactly the Bad Batch’s fault. Everything was going rather perfectly. It just so happens that another group of rebels had their own mission going on at the same time. This is what threw a wrench in their plans, and the results were extremely disastrous.

Events began with the Bad Batch (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) debating about how to handle Crossfire (also Baker). They ultimately decided that even though he betrayed them, he was still their brother. They hatched a plan to put a homing device on a ship at an Imperial summit in order to track the ship back to the base where Crossfire was being held. The plan was going perfectly until the encountered the rebel Saw Guerrera (Andrew Kishino), who had his own scheme to blow up the facility. This caused the Empire to realize insurgents were there. Clone Force 99 ends up in a true cliffhanger while trapped in a monorail car.

The episode is just the start of a two-parter, so the cliffhanger ending was to be expected, especially since the second part was released on the same day. Still, it was a great episode all on its own with plenty of action. Fans who hoped Crossfire would be a part of the finale might have been stumped by this ending. The Bad Batch is in a pretty terrible predicament and it would be hard for them to get out of it and somehow find Crossfire in the follow-up. This left the show in pretty precarious territory as it goes into the finale, so fans may want to buckle up for a wild ride.
