The 2000 AD (& More!) Comic Convention, Lawless, makes its way to Bristol on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May and they’ve just announced the show’s events and revealed the Con Programme cover…
Concept by Steve Bull, art by Dan Cornwell (after a certain Carlos Ezquerra) design by Brendon Wright
Since 2014, Lawless Comic Con has been providing a small but growing convention presence here in the UK. Focused on Judge Dredd and 2000 AD, but also broadening its scope and guest list over the years, it has a well-deserved reputation as being a welcoming and thoroughly enjoyable show for all.
This year’s show takes place, once again, at the Doubletree By Hilton, Redcliffe Way, Bristol on the 27th – 28th May of 2023. Sponsored by The77, we have an incredibly impressive guest list, including the likes of John Wagner, Mick McMahon, Dave Gibbons, Glenn Fabry, and John Higgins, along with established 2000 AD artists, new talent, and so much more.
This week they’ve revealed the Programme cover, above, with art by current 2000 AD artist Dan Cornwell, along with the details of the events programme…
Plenty to enjoy across two days, with particular highlights being Stacy Dutton-Whittle interviewing two legends on two days – Dave Gibbons and Mick McMahon, the Rogue Trooper Reunion panel on Saturday, and what I imagine will be a fascinating journey through the history of comics with two excellent artists and eminently knowledgable scholars, Lew Stringer and David Roach on Sunday.
The convention is also hosting the Steve Dillon Exhibition, organised by Dillon’s daughter-in-law Tanya Dillon, made up of 50+ works from across his career from 1978 to 2016. It’s a perfect tribute to another artist who is sadly no longer with us and one essential stop on your convention weekend.
It’s not too late to get tickets – have a look over at the Lawless website.
